As the main workforce doing most dish washing at home, keeping the sponge holder clean and dry has been a tedious job. Every now and then, I have to pour out accumulated drips and reach into the small and awkward corners inside the sponge holder to clean up the gunk.
To make this job easier, I decided to design and make my better sponge holder:
– Well drained to keep everything dry
– Can be disassembled to allow deep cleaning
– Can hold multiple sponges for different purposes (cooked, raw, wok…)
– Aesthetic looking is important
So here are some renderings of the design. I’m so happy with it already even before I start printing it. I also rendered a version with transparent acrylic.
Below is a short animation to illustrate how to disassemble for cleaning and to reveal the internal slope for draining the drips.
